Disabling program launch at startup and all the time
Hi, I have a pest of a dialup connection that's trying to start dialing, not just when Windows starts up but over and over despite I keep clicking on the cancel button. It's such a hell of a nag that I have to keep the jack off the socket unless I actually want to establish a connection. Does anyone know what registry key(s) or what must be changed/deleted?

Do you have any idea what the source of this is?
e.g. is it a specific application that's trying to "phone home", or is it Windows?
I installed MusicMatch Jukebox and found it incessantly trying to do this no matter what property settings were disabled. I finally had to eradicate it from the PC like the pervasive pest that it was.

Unfortunately it's not a ras connection that was manually created and configured, but one that was created through an "installation CD" from some ISP in my father's pc. Now he asked me whether I knew how to wipe this out and maybe I should erradicate every reference to it and use a connection from some other ISP but I'd like to know if it can be stopped.

It is kind of difficult to answer that without knowning what the actual package is. Does it come with any form of help files in which there is a support number that you, or your father, could call?

The above article should solve your problem. If I were you I would also try and find out what program is attempting to make the dial up connection, ensuring its not spyware or a virus.

I've taken a look and I think it should, indeed. I'll wait till I can lay my paws on to my father's pc one of these days, I think he'd rather not tamper with the register himself. Running some antivirus is a good idea as well.
