I have a string in VBA and it has a space in it how do i create some code (a function) where i pass a string in and it returns everything before the first space.
for example.

Re: String truncate
Check out the functions Instr to detect the space and Mid$ to return a substring of a string.

Re: String truncate
Check your libraries for a missing reference. Open a module, goto Tools -> References and look for anything that says MISSING.

Re: String truncate
VB Code:
Public Sub testa()
Dim a As String
Dim b As Variant
a = "the moon"
b = Split(a, " ")
MsgBox b(0)
End Sub
assuming u use VB6 coz if i remember correctly, VB5 doesn't have split()
