    Rep spread

I now understand that the rep spread is "10 people" (thanks Marty!)...

This means that I have to give points to 10 different people before I can give a rep to the same person.

I wanted to rep someone today - but apparently I rep's them back in early April and had not yet rep'd 10 people.

I spend a lot of time in the DB forum helping noobies - so I don't get around to rep'ing people very often...

Would it be possible to someone incorporate the "time span" between rep'ing the same person so that this doesn't occur?

I fully understand the need to keep cheating at a minimum - but I obviously wasn't trying to cheat the system.

That would be a change to the underlying software we use for this forum. We can suggest that to the makers of the forum software for a future release.

You could always spread the wealth to other deserving posts in other VBF Forums to help cover your spread.

    Brad!

Yes, do that. I've often wanted to rep the same person twice in a less-than-10 spread as well.

Could we get the ability to choose how many reps to give (within our power)?

    Re: Rep spread

Yeah i was thinking the same thing last night. Time based. I normally help the same people and the same people normally help me. I wanted to give rep to someone who has helped me out three times already but i can't. We shouldn't penalize the people who post in slow traffic forums.

    Re: Rep spread

This encourages people to spread reps around, which is a good thing. We have a high number of people who show up only for a week or two, then leave. Perhaps a deserved +ive would encourage them with a sense of community. More eyes on any problem increases the potential for a good answer.
