Resolved [RESOLVED] Why can't I post Replies at once ?

    Hi,
I've facing this problem from day one. Don't know whether others do or not.
Whenever I try to reply to a post, I write my reply and click the Post Reply button, the message shown in the attachment is displayed. Then I click my Browser's Back button and click the Post Reply Button again and this time it is accepted.
The message is shown usually if I take a long time to type it(not that long!). Very short replies don't cause this problem.

I'm not much bothered about this problem as I can do my work anyway, but I'll be happy if it goes off somehow. Its quite annoying!

I've not seen this problem. Is anyone else having it? My guess is that it is a timing issue as you've indicated.

Yeah, I've had exact problem happen to me several times. I think it is a timing issue, because it always seems to happen when (like Pradeep) I take a long time to write a post., e.g. when I go off to look up some code or something. As Pradeep said, copying the post, going back to the thread page and clicking Post Reply again fixes it.

    Brad!
Yes I strongly believe that it is a timing issue. I get this more often than not.
May be the session is timing out. But why then does it accept it when I click the Back button and submit it again?
If u could play with the session timeout and check?

Yup! while posting this msg also , I got the error...

I'm sure there are many more like penagate and me who are facing this problem. I'v seen this on more than 5-6 machines I have. Recently I had formatted my machine at home. So it was new windows. I saw the problem there also.

One thing common to all these was Win2K IE5.0 or IE5.5. But can this be???

I have had the problem with both IE 6 and Firefox. But the timeout for me is really quite a long time... like about 30 minutes. By then I go back again anyway to see if there are any new replies

I've had it happen. I also get double posts if I edit real quick and them submit again.

But with me it happens very very frequently (almost always). Even if my reply is 2 sentences long ( like this one), I get this error!

and lo... it happened this time also

Have you checked your cookie settings? It could be an issue with them.

Security level for this zone - Custom Level
    Inside this:
Allow cookies that are stored on your computer - Enable
Allow per-session cookies (not stored) - Enable

I need to check somewhere else also?

I've had this problem irregularly. Sometimes it will happen al day long, and each time, I have to go to the thread and try to reply again.

Then it will disappear after a few days.

Hasn't happened to me for a long time.
It happened to NoteMe when he tried to quote me the instant I deleted a post once or twice.

Re: Why can't I post Replies at once ?

It may be a problem related to Proxy Servers. In my office I access thru proxy and find that this occurs in about about 99% of the posts I do. At my home it's a dialup connection. It occurs with nearly 50% fo the posts I do.

Re: Why can't I post Replies at once ?

I formatted and reinstalled windows on these machines and don't find the problem any more.
I'm not sure what was causing the problem, but can be quite sure that the problem was with my systems, not your website.
But anyway the problem is resolved now.

I hope you didn't reformat because of this problem.

Because it hasn't reared its head in quite some time now.

No, I formatted it for other reasons.
It had started misbehaving with my other apps too. I thought I would be better off formatting it rather than finding solutions to all such problems
