Windows backup
I am just about ready to upgrade to xp from w2k. I was just wondering if I can create a backup, using the windows backup, of all my important files and programs on windows 2000, then if anything goes wrong during or after the upgrade, restore those files, etc.. using the windows xp backup?
Will this work windows 2000 backup to windows xp backup?
Thanks, Tim

Re: Windows backup
Do you have room on a different drive? You could zip up the important files, but I would suggest that you format the drive before putting xp on it. other files might be hanging around.

Re: Windows backup
Instead of backing up, just copy the files somewhere else. That way if you format (strongly suggested) it can create the accounts properly and run from a nice, clean, fresh copy of Windows XP etc. and it's just a matter of simply copying the files back into their correct locations once it's installed.
I use Microsoft Visual Basic 2005. (Therefore, most code samples I provide will be based around the .NET Framework v2.0, unless otherwise specified)
