    Post C++/VB 6 Developer

    Urgently needed developer with 4+ years experience in c++ and Visual basic 6 for a project with our Fortune 500 client. Project start is 05/09/05, so please respond ASAP.

    Position: C++/VB Developer

    Location: Canton, OH

    Rate: $40-$45

    Job Description:
    Applications support and system development activities to convert / upgrade C++ v. 5 to VB v. 6 and some server / PC related activities.

    Skills sets required:
    4 years of server environment experience with C++ including v. 5
    4 years of client environment Visual Basic including v. 6
    Server experience with Windows 2000
    Desktop experience with Windows NT, 2000, and XP
    4+ years of experience with MS SQL Server v. 7.0
    Prefer someone with Modicon PLCs

    Overall environment:
    Environment will be plant environment (not corporate IT)
    Plant is made up of 3 servers running Windows 2000 and about 15 client pcs running Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
    The server applications are written in C++ v.5 and the client applications are written in VB v.5.
    The database is MS SQL Server V7.0. Actual control of the process is done with Modicon PLCs.
    There is extensive communication between the servers and the PLCs and between the servers and other plant servers.

    Specific project work to be completed:
    Upgrade the applications from V5 of C++ and VB to V6.
    Upgrade the clients to WindowsXP.
    Install a delay system that is in use in another rolling mill (Convert and integrate to run in this mill).
    Create Maintenance status screens.
    Integration and installation of crop measuring system.
    Other minor system changes.
    Create replicated database.
