    What the he...

MSN Messenger: You can't connect because internet explorer is set to work offline!

Goes to internet explorer, clicks file

Work Offline not in list (note that I am browsing my university website)

Close MSN messenger, restarts, same error.

    SCREAMS

    Tries to go to hotmail.com

    Working offline?!?!?

    .... pointless BS

    Very Sure.

Weird... "Edit with Firefox" in the menu even though it's IE.

University website may remove the work offline buttons from IE at their own discretion. Choose a better school!

It's still not there when I go to the hotmail website. I'm [crossoutstarting[/crossout] to think maybe internet explorer isn't so fantastic.

If you're at the Hotmail site, you are not working offline. The button/tab is probably removed administratively when you log on.
