Don't you just hate it when an artist decides to remake a classic hit? It drives me up the wall. As a consumer and at one time an avid music fan, I never liked music remakes. It tells me that this artist that I just spent $16.99 on a CD, couldn't give a f@*k about writing one more song on their album so they decide to be completely unoriginal and give you their interpretation of that song.

    Examples of bad remakes:

Madonna doing American Pie. This song is completely unlistenable. Madonna should be charged for murder.

Judas Priest doing Johnne B. Goode. I could have lived with the Grateful Dead doing the classic, but this version is terrible. (I think when I was younger I like it though!)

Otis Redding's version of the Stone's Satisfaction is just plain silly.

Aretha Franklin doing Otis Redding's Respect is a remake. Not too many people know that. This song is the exception to the rule (I sure there maybe a few others).

How many people are going to do Dylan's All Along the Watch Tower? Off the top of my head, I can think of: Jimi Hendrix, the Grateful Dead, U2, and now Dave Mathews. (Hendrix's is the best, by far).

    PLEASE ADD YOUR OWN.....

Nothing to add, but I'm going to vent about American Pie.

It doesn't sound anything LIKE American Pie!!!

Wanna kill yourself? Wanna end your life? Listen to Sweet Child O' Mine done by Sheryl Crow. It sucks. I think that Axl Rose sold his soul when he let her do this.

My friend was telling me that Jessica Simpson remade Mellancamp's Jack and Diane. I have never heard it, but I can tell you I don't like it already.

Just as preparation...I'll be waiting with the sniper rifle for anyone who remakes Queen (especially not Bohemian Rhapsody)...or John Lennon (they even touch Imagine...and I'll blow their head off).

    Damn...music gets me emotional

Except for all most all of Presley's stuff, the only remake
I ever heard that was worth listening to was PinkFloyd and
    House of the Rising Sun.

The other day I downloaded off of Napster a version of Bohemian Rhapsody not done by Queen. I forgot all about it. It is so terrible that it is funny. The artist, you ask? Bruce Dickenson (lead singer of Iron Maiden!!) It is an opra-like song and he sings only half of the slow (beginning) part. Some oprea chick sings the rest. He sings all of the end. You have to download it!

Mine has to be bloody Five (or 5ive or whatever bollocks they want to call themselves) doing We Will Rock You. I cringe every time I hear it. *Shudder*
