Now im teed off...
This rep system never bugged me until i checked my points today...
I got a negative rating, because the sample i posted contained the _click
function instead of a doubleclick!I was incredibly angry, and i waited a few
minutes to post so i wouldnt totally piss and moan...
Here is the thread. ->

I don't suppose the person giving the neg rating had the courtesy or courage to leave their name did they?

Re: Now im teed off...
Reputations are all about means and medians...
A single (or a few) negatives shouldn't hurt your overall reputation if overall you do postiive, helpful things. Just like in the real world....
I wouldn't sweat it.

As the site manager, I tend to give negative points to people who use profanity or words that are on the edge of being profanity, so I'd recommend caution on the wording you use....especially in forum feedback.
(We have young readers in this forum....)

I wish someone had told me that a few weeks ago.
Anyway. I think this reps thing has been a bad idea. It has caused more arguments and disruption than anything I can remember. And its not like anyone ever gives you reps for helping them anyway. The system is too low-key its easy to forget to rate someone that helped out out a lot.
There should be a larger button near to the "Quote" and "Quick Reply" buttons.

Re: Now im teed off...
There is never going to be a list of words that are NOT ALLOWED in the forum.
Mostly, it should be a case of common sense. If you use words that you would use around your mother, in most cases they won't be a problem with them (as long as you are polite around your mother!)
And I wouldn't try to post one either, it would not be around very long, and neither would you!

I've given out several hundred Reps so far. Where I feel they are deserving, I give. I hope it reminds members to give
and stir up some interest as well.
Reps are still only a few months in and it is still going to take some time for them to settle in

Re: Now im teed off...
If you haven't been rated then the reputations do not appear in the user control panel. I often rate <10 members who have given a helpful response. Like rob said, it helps draw attention to it.
