Runtime Error ...
For the first time I am deploying an asp.net web-application.
In VS.net on the local IIS everything works fine. But when I do a Project => Copy Project ("File share" and "only files needed to run this application") and I put these files on the web-server by ftp I get the follwing message :
----------------------------------------------------
Server Error in '/' Application.
Runtime Error
Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.
Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".
<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->
<configuration>
<system.web>
<customErrors mode="Off"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>
Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.
<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->
<configuration>
<system.web>
<customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>
------------------------------------------------------
To get more infromation about the error I did what it tells :
I changed this parameter in the config.web file ...
<customErrors mode="off"/>
But it doesn't change, I still have the same error.
Could you help me to figure out what is going wrong ?
Thank you a lot !

Re: Runtime Error ...
First of all - the customErrors mode attribute is case sensitive - it needs to be "Off" and not "off" as you have it
A bit of a shot in the dark, but I believe the (original) issue you're having is that the copy is just, well, copying the files required - you must create the application in IIS.
To do this open IIS manager, right click on your application folder and click "Properties". In the "Directory" tab, click on the "Create" button then close the dialog using "OK".

Re: Runtime Error ...
I corrected the entery from off to Off, but it still makes the same problem. I don't get a complete error report...
I can not manage the IIS as I have a hoster.
Do you have another idea what I could do?

Re: Runtime Error ...
What exactly do you mean by incomplete error report? Does it repeat the first error?
I'm not aware of any way to remotely do this, perhaps contact your host and get them to ensure the application was created?

I mean that I do not get the details of the error :
"The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons)."
The error message tells me to put customErrors mode to Off, but even if I do this I still get the same error without any details.
I will ask my hoster if the application is created in the IIS.
