    Resolved Forum s/w [Resolved]

Ehm...this might sound a bit silly, and it's not that I'm complaining about the forum functionality but why isn't the forum software written in VB?

I mean, how would PHP guys feel if there was a www.phpforums.com and the forum software was written in VB?

This question/comment comes up off and on.

I know your question is a bit rhetorical, so I'll respond in the same -

When a company has 29 different forums, does that mean they should have 29 different forum programs to support each of the different forum languages? Should a forum that covers more than one language have modularized software for each area?

It just happens that vBulletin is the software Jupitermedia standardized on. It offers lots of features and is customizable in a number of ways.

Indeed it is good. I just wish there was some forum s/w in VB.Net as good as this so we good hack away at it.

I don't know if it's been re-done in .NET, but Snitz was written in ASP originaly.... but the code base is a bit.... ah.... pastasized.... meaning it's all over the place and isn't (unless it's changed) modularized at all.

A google search for "forum software written in VB.NET" turned up this site: http://www.thinkofit.com/webconf/forumsoft.htm

Which lists a ton of forums.... including " InstantForum.NET" whos desc reads: Inexpensive forum software based on ASP.NET and SQL Server. Full VB.NET source code is available.

    So there you go....

    Re: Forum s/w [Resolved]

Thanks for the link techgnome. There are several forum projects in .Net...but there's none I've seen that comes close to being as good as this. Personally, I prefer the forum s/w at www.asp.net.
