Re: Stupid Java
Maybe you are supposed to install just the program, then that update afterwards. I dunno, I hate java and I refuse to install it, any site that needs that crap is a poorly designed site IMO.
I use Microsoft Visual Basic 2005. (Therefore, most code samples I provide will be based around the .NET Framework v2.0, unless otherwise specified)

Re: Stupid Java
I started my dad's computer today, and it immediately began dialing to get online. I noticed the Java icon in the system tray, that promped for Download and Install Updates. I let it download a short update, and hung up. Then I installed it. While it was installing, my dad came in and we went online again. Well, the java installer needed more files, and took some time to get them.
I found out that my dad had accidentally started Firefox, which prompted for the update. I promptly turned off the prompt for Java updates.
If anyone knows of a good dialing program for Firefox that will dial in the background, let me know. His won't start automatically. We downloaded one called D-Con that automatically hangs up though, as the built-in dialer doesn't hang up when you close Firefox.
I'm installing Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition 1.4.1_07 right now, with no problem.
