Exclamation Hotmail and Windows Update not working

    Hello all,

My laptop was working fine and when I went to school, I linked to my school's wireless network. During my break, I wanted to check my email. So I tried to log into hotmail just as I did the night before at my house. It went to a blank error page. I tried to log into hotmail with another computer and it worked fine. Another thing, I had the window's update icon on the lower right corner of my screen, when I tried to update, it wouldn't let me. So I went to microsoft's website and tried to update windows there, it wouldn't let me. I took it to my school's tech support and they spent two hours on it and they didn't know what was wrong with it. Can anyone help? I am ready to back everything up and reformat it. If you can give me some support as to what I should do before I reformat it, I would be delighted. Thank you.

The tech support at my school has the same computer and he made all the settings same as his computer and it still didn't work.

    A) You havent installed an antivirus have you. Could be a firewall!

    B) Tech support do allow access to these programs ports under a normal account?

    C) You dont have a fixed IP or the same computer name as another pc on the network do you?
