    Remember when...

Stadiums didn't have corporate sponsors and events didn't either (ex: "Safeco Field" and "FedEx presents the Sugar Bowl")

    T.V.s didn't have remote controls

You had to keep your own bowling scores.

Musicians played instruments and didn't lip-sync (Milli Vanili)

    Coffee before Starbucks

    When cigarettes weren't $5.00 a pack.

When golfing colthes were really ugly (no one wears plaid anymore, thank you Jack Nickalus).

Commodore 64, my first home PC. (My friend had the Commodore Vic 20 and a cassette player to store his info. I had the disk drive that weighed 50 lbs. and when it ran, everything metallic in the room flew and stuck to the side of it).

Bowling for dollars (bowling game show).

You spelled fat as "F-A-T" and not "P-H-A-T"

Marsha Brady (Brady Bunch) and Mary Ann (Gilligan's Island) were your two fantasy girls.

My Dukes of Hazzard lunch box. Do they even make lunch boxes anymore?

That's all I remember, please add your own

You heard a new song on the radio and could go out and buy it the same day and not wait 6 weeks for it to be released.

I only remember a few episodes of Mr. Wizard, and I've seen re-runs of Mr. Ed, other than that, my bowling scores are electronic and my T.V.'s have remotes.

Yes i've heard that, but my mom's 60 and walks with a cane, probably wouldn't be much fun to beat up

Remember when even on U.S. tv you could always catch reruns of Benny Hill and Monty Python's Flying Circus

The world has not been the same since Benny Hill left us. A couple of weeks ago Adam and Jim (from Comedy Central's Man Show) did a nice tribute to him. It was funny as hell.

I'm in the USA but i'm a big fan of British humor, not alot of it to really be found on TV here though, Meaning ofLife was good, of course the best ever was Holy Grail

I missed that episode of The Man Show unfortunately, Benny Hill was one of the best ever

Weird guy on telly, presented one of those amusing home videos programmes. One of his hands is child size, the other fully grown. Altogether, a symbol of cheesy TV shows in the UK.

Yes, from what I've seen of US TV, the cheese density over there is significantly higher.

Do ever get to see reruns of The Young Ones in the UK? MTV (when they used to play music videos) ran that show once in a while. I wasn't as Classic as Monty Python or Benny Hill, but it was worth a couple of laughs.

I don't really see the appeal of Benny Hill myself. The Young Ones was a classic show, we get it rerun every now and again. My nickname is from The Young Ones (and later, Bottom) - Harry The Bastard.

    Faulty Towers
    The Clangers
the first mobile phones the size of house bricks ?
that sweet stuff that came in a packet and when you put in your mouth it fizzed/crackled like mad ? What was it called ? I think it got banned.

I agree about Benny Hill, couldn't stand him.

Was that the fizzy stuff that kids were eating about 30 packs a day of, and getting headaches and diarrhoea?

    Punched cards.

I remember using punched cards and computers with magnetic drums for main memory.

I also remember non-digital clocks and watches. My girl-friend's grandson told his parents he wanted Guv to answer a scientific question. When they wanted more details, he said it was too scientific for them to answer, he would wait for Guv and Gloria to visit.

The question was "What does clockwise mean?" The kid had a digital watch and could tell time. Neither his home nor any of his friends' modern homes had a clock with hands. He had seen clocks with hands in school and elsewhere, but he did not know that they were clocks.

When his father heard the question, he was philosophical about the situation, saying, "I never claimed to be a research physicist, what can I be expected to know about clocks?"
