Project/bug management (what do you all use?)

I was wondering what you all might be using for tracking call logs/bug fixes and general project management - even combining bug tracking and new development in one application.

Any info would be greating appreciated.

Does anyone use anything out there?

The general developer forum doesn't seem to get many views...

Well, I figured I would bump this one more time - if anyone has any experience I would surely appreciate it - thanks.

Hey szlamany, looks like most members dont use any tracking software, I guess. Like me, we use our own call
center type software that I wrote. . The calls we get in about "This gave me an error" type thing get a new task created
under the client/project and it has a status, notes, etc. We use it to create new projects and even post our time
to the projects for being able to track our profitability on a project basis.

RobDog - thanks - I was thinking that was probably the case...

One of my customers, they have a 4-person help desk (and dozens of building techs), would like to track both problems and projects in a single package - off the shelf product yet!

Anything from printer don't work to need a new sort order for some query.

Re: Project/bug management (what do you all use?)

We also "rolled our own" bug tracking software. ASP Classic, some VB6, and SQL server. Nothing glamorous.
Nobody knows what software they want until after you've delivered what they originally asked for.

We use "bugzilla" - free, but I can't in clear conscience recommend it.
Also "Rational Clearquest" which is better, but expensive.

I use MANTIS for bug tracking (http://www.mantisbt.org/). You have to be willing to install the Windows versions of PHP and MySql, but they're all free and it does quite a good job.

    szlamany,

You could try Software Version Control. It's free.
