Messenger Service Messages (NETSEND)
I've looked all over the net for a code that can retrieve messages sent using net send. i.e. without the messenger service running.
If mailslot is used as suggested in many places only messages sent using mail slot can be retrieved. those sent using net send will not be received.
Capturing the message box and getting the text is pretty dirty coz the msg box can be seen flashing at times.
There are so many apps out there that do this. (e.g. fomine, winmessenger etc.) but I have no idea how they do this. some claim to use sumthing called SMB. im lost
Any help would be appreciated!

Re: Messenger Service Messages (NETSEND)
Hello hosney,
To be honest I've been searching for the same thing as you and I'm also looking for help, I hope you don't mind me watching this thread. However, I have found out some information that may be useful that I thought I could share.
I have read that the client messenger service uses RPC on ports 135-139 to find out which port the messenger server is running on. I don't know anything about RPC but if it were possible to register a client program with RPC and fool the client messenger service to send 'Net Sends' to the port that you've specified, then perhaps this would be possible - kind of 'intercepting' the message, I suppose.
Personally, I'm trying to develop a kind of 'LAN chat' program, and thought it would be interesting to include a feature that sends text to a machine that isn't running my chat client, using the messenger service - our goals appear to be similar.
I hope that my information is both accurate and helpful - hopefully someone more clued-up on these things can give us more information
