    Resolved MSInfo Export [RESOLVED]

I'm currently working on an application to help diagnose computer problems part of that app is MSInfo. Currently, users have to select it from a drop down menu and then it launches. I would like to have the information saved from MSInfo through it's export command. Is it possible to do this with VB?

I would need to select the option from a drop down menu and then name the file. Let me know if this is viable or if you have done something similar.

    Thanks.

    Yes, its possible.

You are better off if you dunamically detect the location of MSInfo32.exe on your users workstations.
If you, from a dos prompt, type in msinfo32.exe /? you will get a listing of all the switches you need to do this.

    Re: MSInfo Export

Thanks RobDog, I didn't realize it had any command line switches.

I am detecting the path through a registry key (HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSInfo) so I should be OK as far as that is concerned.

    Thanks again.

    No prob.

The registry is fine. Another way, just in case, is to create a temp file with an .nfo extension. Then use the
FindExecutable API to get the associated program (msinfo32.exe) location to open it with.
