Packaged Programs, not working on ME

It will not work whatsoever on ME. Setup runs the system out of date problem. So just trying to click on the exe in support does not work either. Anyone know how to get it to work on an ME system?

Use INNO Script and INNO Installer.
Randem wrote Inno Script, and along with it is a feature called Automatic OS Updater. It's big, but includes all of the updates needed for any OS. If the computer doesn't have Web Access, or dial-up, then there would be a problem when P&D wants you to update files. Inno will take care of things for you automatically!

Scroll down a few posts to my thread regarding Desktop Shortcut that was resolved with Inno.

You can put all of the files on a CD and the program will be ready to run as soon as the installation finishes.

Sorry, but it still didn't work. The ME version update nor the update for all the systems. When he clicks on the exe, it just comes up with an unexpected error. Any ideas?

If your program does not work and you get and unexpected error then the problem is the exe not the setup. I imagine that the program works in the IDE?

If you zip up the vbp and the exe and upload it I will take a look at it.

The setup is no longer the problem. I am using Inno Setup(which is fantastic!) and it installs everything properly. It puts everything where it needs to be. But when he tries to run it, it gives the unexpected error. The problem is definitely within the executable. Could it be the Microsoft ActiveX Data objects 2.8 library reference that I used? Should I try a different one?

The program works on any other computer, just not on my friends ME system.

Sorry, my project is very big and I am attempting to sell it in the future, so I cannot send it to you. Not that I don't trust you, it's just, well I'm sure you know.

Your vbp File is not your code so it can not be that big. Asking how to get it working on ME without giving definitive errors would be just asking for guesses.

Hey thanks anyways. You're right, I don't have any good explanation to what it is. My friend is coming down with his computer, so I'm going to try to figure it out. Thanks for helping though.
