There are a few ways i think you need to improve the rating:
1)Shouldnt be able to vote for yourself.
2)Take off the 10 spread it around rule, it really isnt fair. Say i had two big questions, in two different topics. And the same person answered both..It really isnt fair to not give them points for the hard work...So maybe put it at 5 or something?
thats about all i can think, but itd be 100x better

Don't think you can.

Re: Rating idea:
If the same person answers you two questions then give a rep on the first one and then give 10 more to
other members posts that you find worthy. Then you can go back to that person and give the other rep.
This is how you "cover the spread".

Nope. There are no points left by you for you.

About the spread. It was by default 25 or was it 20. And Brad has all ready lowered it to 10. I have to agree that it isn't perfect. But no system is. Everyone loses a point every now and then because of it. The smaller section probably loses more then the bigger sections where there is more people to rate. But in the end, everyone loses some points because of it. But the spread is there for a reson. So the system won't be cheated. So a person can't get "allies" and rate each other, or make an alias account and rate them self all the time. So in the end I think we should be just happy that the spread is all ready down to 10 now.
