OS/2 was a joint development between IBM and MS, and was meant to be the next step from DOS. IBM did not want to aim at the 386 chip for fear of loss of sales from their mini division and thus loss their lead in the PC wars and notably the OS wars. MS was developing windows at the same time with Gates making the decision to go full ahead with Windows after the frustration of working with Big Blue.

We use Symnatex C++ which allows deployment to Windows/Mac OS/Unix and Linux we only just discovered. Have never had a problem with knocking up a piece of code on a unix box and then deploying to either Mac or Windows.

O/S 2 is fruit loop city.

Yeap.....but not for much longer have convinced them to switch to Win98 SE. Guess who is going to have a few funned filled weeks canning OS/2 from 30 or so PCs.

Why don't you just walk out of here and head off to your nerdy Linux sites. Actually am perfectly happy with MS forcing a standard on the desktop. Would you really want to spend the day coding printer drivers, which you had to do pre DOS days.
