    Avatars?

64x64 is WAY to small. I made an image in photoshop with these two pictures then added my name to the bottom. They look good now, But TERRIBLE when you shrink them to 64x64, I mean couldnt you make the height like 10-15 pixels higher? I think its pretty bogus this small

The one that says paper mario is before i did it, the other one with paper mario is after i shrunk it

    It looked awesome in photoshop..

Actually it is larger then others that I have seen. Some are only 50 x 50.

I tried resizing your image and it came out fine for me although I couldnt get a transparency background without
deleting all the wite. I did it quickly to the transparent one is a little jaggie.

Was it an animated gif? In PhotoShop there is a manu item called "Save for Web...".
It optimizes the image so its smaller (in file size) and optimized for the web as its name implies. Also, to reduce the image in
size, right click on the caption bar and select Image size. Then type in your dimensions and the canvase size will
reduce also. Make sure you have "Constrain porpotions" checked also.

okay. heres another one i want to use..
    it is:
    3.73 KB
    http://img57.exs.cx/img57/1528/0046dy.jpg

Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 64 by 64 pixels or 19.5 KB (whichever is smaller).
so why doenst it fit? Can you shrink it for me, so it doenst look stupid again?

    Re: Avatars?

I've asked this before; however, everything I've gotten has been time bombed --

Does anyone know of a good, easy-to-use, gif animating program? A link would be helpful if you do. I want to update my avatars! I'm sure others would find such a program valuable too.

(Someone could write one in VB that resizes images down before placing them into a frame in an animated image....)

    Re: Avatars?

Most users here seems to use PSP (Paint Shop Pro). It is not free. But they have (at least last time I checked) an older version you can download that you can use for free. The PSP package also comes with Jasc Animation Shop. Might be a different download on this page:

and that is what we use to make animated gifs, like all the christmas avatars we ahve made here.

I use MacroMedia's Fireworks. Its very easy and does all of the positioning for you when placing your
    images on frames for animation.
