    Question

    Im using WIN98.

When I try to Rename a file to
    ' comx.htm ' where x is a number I get
    Access denied Message.

But When I change the Extension to html it's Ok..

May be It's Something to avoid confusing
    with the ports..COM1 COM2 etc....
or something realy stupid that microsoft never
    documented.

    GOTCHA !

OK, I found out the reason..
When you try to save a text file
from Notepad as com1.htm you will learn the reason
    why it is so...

The file name is a reserved device name.
    That is

    com1.htm
    com2.htm
    com3.htm
    com4.htm

and LPT1.htm to LPT9.htm are Reserved device names.
and the dos name for say Com1.html is not com1.htm
instead it is Com1~1.htm. therefore no problem

    Note :
This is the case for any three letter Extension and not only
    for htm

    cool!
on my winNT it won't allow
    comn.xxx
    where n is a digit
    and xxx is any extention.

    the error message is:
A file with the name you specified already exists.

Hehe. On any non-NT Windows, this will crash it (unless you've patched your system).
