    MDAC 2.8 installed and setup project doesn't recognize it. (RESOLVED W/ WORKAROUND)

    I created a setup project and ran it on the target machine. The .Net framework and MDAC 2.7 or > weren't on the machine. So, I downloaded both and installed them. When I rerun the setup project it doesn't recognize that MDAC 2.8 has been installed and stops the set up.

    Can someone help?

    I never figured out why it wouldn't recognize MDAC. But, I rebuilt my setup project to disregard looking for it, and reran the install. And it worked.

    I'm having this problem on a Windows 2k machine. I install mdac 2.8 but it still says it only has 2.53.

    Try uninstalling 2.5 and reinstalling 2.8.
