    Visual Source Safe

    Hi all

Somebody pls tell me where I can find good articles on Visual Source Safe. I am having VS 2003 Professional edition and I have got few queries:

Is VSS seperate from VS or is it bundled in VS (professional)?
Sometimes in my 'File' menu 'Source Control' is displayed and sometimes not!!!
When 'Source Control' is displayed in 'File' menu all its sub-menus are disabled!!!

Pls let me know, why this happens. I have never worked on VSS before

    Regards

I think that you need to first add a project to source safe to have most SS options enabled. You can do this via File>Source Control>Add solution to source control (maybe a bit different, I'm going from memory).

Beets the hell outta me pal. I think though that if you right click your solution, you should have "Add to SS" in the context menu.

I thought I read on the forums somewhere that it depends on the way you open your project. If by doubleclicking
on the project file it will be customized to your saved settings. And if you open it through the VS IDE it will not.
Something like that anyways. Can you determine when the SS menu shows or not by testing this out?

There's no point of opening project in different modes. The menu item disappears without doing anything. Just few clicks here and there and its gone!!!
