Computer Advice
I was thinking about:
- AMD Athlon™ 64 3500 Processor (2.2Ghz 512k L2 cache) Socket 939 (0.90nm Winchester Core)
- Asus A8N-SLI (nForce4SLI S939)
- Corsair DDR (TWINX1024-3200XL) 1GB TWINX-3200XL (400MHz) DDR RAM, 2 x matched CMX512-3200XL
- BFG (PCI-Express) (BFGW68256GTOCXI) nVidia 6800GT OC, 256MB GDDR3 Memory, 370MHz GPU Clock, 1000MHz Memory Clock, DirectX9, 32GB/second memory bandwidth, DVI
- Seagate ST3250823AS NCQ 250GB / Serial ATA / 7200RPM / 8MB (5 Year Warranty)
- Thermaltake Tsunami Dream (Case)
- Thermaltake W0023R Purepower 560Watt PSU with active PFC (1Yr Wty)
- Pioneer DVR-109 DVD Re-Writer (16x/6x Dual Layer Black)
- Eventual OS Disk - Western Digital RAPTOR 74Gb / Serial ATA / 10Krpm / 8MB Cache (5 Year Warranty)
I think that the 3500+ looks like better value than the 3800+ at the moment - not 100% sure though, so any advice about that would be great
I'm reasonably happy with the memory and the hdd, but i'm not sure about the graphics card, a friend told me bfgtech is quite a good brand, with a lifetime replacement warranty
and last but not least, i'm not sure about the psu (do i need that much power, or should i get a diff brand, and less power.. etc), and the case - is it good value, has anyone had any issues with it etc
general feedback would be great
thanks

Personally I'd get an ATI Radeon 850...

Re: Computer Advice
I've heard some bad things about ATI cards, i've got an ati card at the moment, it's patchy performance sometimes, but that might be the computer
The nvidia i used to have was pretty good though.
I'll look into it, thanks

Re: Computer Advice
I will admit it isn't perfect. It's a bit patchy with Knights of the Old Republic 2 but apparently that is more to do with the game than anything else
