Would it be possible for the smilies to be inserted into the text where the cursor is at that time. At the moment when I click on a smilie to add it, it goes to the very end of the text.

This smilie was inserted after entire text was typed. It used to be an issue with previous version of vBulletin but it seems to work fine now.

Perhaps its the style of text editor you're using that affects this.
I'm not using wuciwug text editor.

That wave guy inserted properly, right where I placed the cursur right after I typed the word "editor."

As far as I know it is a browser issue. If you are using IE then it will add the smily at the cursor position, but for NS or FireFox it will add the smiley at the end of the message.

I wrote a forum in asp and tried to find a solution for non IE browser but wasnt able to find any solution.

Lou or Rhino are you two using IE by any chance?
