This is bloody ridiculous. There's quite a good debate about it here:

Well. If they were filming it, then they must have been doing something to try to get a better film. Although they said they filmed it to proove what he was normally like.

Re: Video of teacher's outburst
my government teach did something like this once. A kid was walking down the hall bringing something to a teacher while the pledge was going on. and she runs out in the hall and gives him detension for it. We defeintly skipped over learning about Barnette v. Board of Education. I got out of that class as soon as i could. You know a teacher doesnt know her stuff when she violate the precednet shes supposed to teach about.

Re: Video of teacher's outburst
I remember is 7th grade, someone was whistling during the pledge of allegiance. The teacher asked whoever was whistling to stand on his desk. he did, and was sent to the office. pretty funny memory.

I had to download it to my desktop before it would play. For some reason it won't stream properly.

Re: Video of teacher's outburst
Law or not .... if the teacher asks you to stand, you stand. If you don't you get punished. Simple case of respect for your elders, so why all the fuss

Yea but you gotta admit some teachers go over the top. I've had teachers in the past that have had a reputation for going nuts over nothing, just have a very lower temper and easily go on power trips.
Doesn't teach you anything but to hate that individual.

Re: Video of teacher's outburst
Only if someone else makes them draw the line somewhere. If they have absolute control, they will get their way, as ridiculous as it may be.
Same in the service. Some drill sergents were over the top, but as long as they were fair, they were respected by most of their troops.
Same thing. Can't have everybody love you.

Yeah - he does seem a little insane. But you don't know what led up to it, if he is like that all the time then you are right, he doesn't deserve any respect.
But I if it were a testing group of kids who were no responding to polite requests to stand up then he has every right to shout and treat them with the little respect they show him. Who knows, the poor guy may have spent the last 30 minstrying to get them to stand up and be quite nicely and had finally lost his rag.
Considering the pupil who took the video was suspended and the school have taken very little action that does suggest to me that, that is the case and given the way younger people treat each other and adults maybe a more heavy handed approach is required.

Re: Video of teacher's outburst
that is wierd, because we get fox, ubc, nbc, exc... from NYC, even though i live in South Dakota, anyway we left it on the news one night, and they did a story on just that video.
my self, i think that that teacher did nothing wrong, he didnt hit anyone, just screamed alot. but you want to know the bad thing, that teacher will most likly never get a job as being a teacher again, beause of those kids that filmed that. his reputation is now rewened because of them. he may have been a really good teacher, but there was those 2-3 kids that didnt like him, now he is screwed. i think it is those kids that should get in trubble, not the teacher, for using a phone in scool. i dont know about there in NJ, but it is punishable by suspension, if you use a cell phone during class, and i agree with the rule.
this is absolutly discusting

Re: Video of teacher's outburst
it's against the rules to use a camera phone in a court room, or in a health club, but if the resolution was better, then I'd have some darn good pix.
I only got 10 second video clips

The article says that no action was taken against the teacher so i would say as far as the education world is conserned they think that is resonable action. You very statement however means you can understand that getting to that state is bad, and the excuse of they could have been disrespectful before just means he has trouble keping his patience.......
......Whatever happened before couldn't have been much BTW because if it was he would be focusing on sending them out the room, and even if they had refused he wouldn't have carried on untill they left. So before the footage there could have only been minimal stuff
