Basically I work in a call centre, booking taxis and getting lots of grief from them.

Did you threaten to take the whole shift with you? Did they have any idea that you were doing it, or was if a bluff ?

Well the rest of the people let me down because I wanted a £1 an hour rise but he offered 50p first and the other people said they were happy with that straight out, kinda loosing me power in getting the whole £1 .
As for did they know yea definitly. There would have been no thought of a rise unless I'd said I was gonna stop working Friday & Sat'day shifts (which are the busiest and no-one wants to do them).
Mind Friday & Sat'days used to be at a higher rate but last time the minimum wage went up the other shifts were rose to the same rate and the Friday & Sat'day weren't raised ....and I've eventually got sick of it. Mainly caused by that I did a favor for them the other week and worked from 5 sat night till 7 on sunday morning, and for this I was only given £5 extra, which is basically the same as the bonus the regular guy gets. But they knew fine well I really didn't want to do it but did for a favor.

I'm making a booking system for them though and now they will be getting a bit more of a surprise when the price is mentioned .

My increase starts Monday. I'm hoping to get $12 an hour (currently making $10.60) but unfortunately it's probably gonna be less than $12 cause my manager goes cheap on people. But that isn't bad money for a production welder at my age. I normally work 10 hours a day, 4 days a week, Mon - Thurs, but since the factory has been so busy lately, I have to work on Fridays for mandatory overtime. Sometimes they have me come in at 6 or even 5 in the morning, and sometimes have me work on Saturdays as well. I get $15.90 working overtime. It's damn good money and all but man, they are killing me!!! It's a good thing I'm getting anywhere between $400 - $500 a week, and that is with my 401k. If I didn't have my 401k, I'd be making even more money. I'm putting 10% in my 401k.
