Need help with selection list

Hello,
I need help with finding an alternative for selection list. I'm currently developing an application using asp.net mobile web forms and currently using SelectionList.SelectedIndex method. The problem with the method is that it only return the value of the selected list index. This is not very efficient due to the fact that i need to query value from the database. Is there any other method where it returns the value of a field instead of the index of the list. Thanks in advance.

Yes, SelectedItem will give you the item rather than the index. I don't have the documentation installed on this system, so I can't check to see that it is allowed in the CF, but I would expect it to be.
