The correct method is to goto File -> Install Font... in the Fonts folder. I think it does some additional compatibility checking if you do it that way, I could be wrong.
I use Microsoft Visual Basic 2005. (Therefore, most code samples I provide will be based around the .NET Framework v2.0, unless otherwise specified)

I have no idea. But when I copied it, it came a nice loading/copy screen that I have never seen in Win2K before, so I guess it did some extra stuff anyway.

Maybe they upgraded it in XP, don't remember seeing it in previous OSes and have never had the need to install additional fonts (Did once, installed about 6,000, slowed my computer to a crawl)

Yep, XP supports you just copying it into the folder. It then starts up the install procedure to install the font properly. Pretty funky really
