if a guy knows nothing about me, except for my aol screen name, can he find out my ip address useing unix? can a guy creat a program to over clock my cpu with out haveing to pull any jumpers on my mother board or anything? And if a guy were to do that, could it not be erased if i turned off my computer and pulled the batery on the mother board? Could that batery be disabled also useing a program? Some body on aim treatened me with this, and he was dumb enough to give me his ip address. Any ideas or sudgestions on what to do, or defend myself?

this is the wrong forum to ask that question... but all I would suggest is report his IP to AOL.
and I don't mean to alarm you... but if he talks to you on aim.... I am pretty sure he can find your IP

Monday Morning Lunatic
AOL is a dynamic IP anyway, so even if he knew your IP, it's worthless now.
I refuse to tie my hands behind my back and hear somebody say "Bend Over, Boy, Because You Have It Coming To You".
