Text File Extenions
Hey, I am trying to find a listing of all possible text file extenions, ranging from *.doc to *.nfo or *.diz..
If someone or some people would like to post someone extenions, go ahead.
I need to know the short, extenion and the format that it is read in such as,
*.nfo TEXT files not System infomation file are read in Terminal font.
P.S. I have a poll going on, MAC VS Windows

Re: Text File Extenions
There could be as many as you can create out of any available alphabet including numbers. But anyway, why do you need such list ???

I don't know that it's possible to know all text extensions since you could name a text file with any extension. I believe that's why the later versions of IE have the option to "Open files based on content instead of extension" - Hotmail's website has a good example of this in that they serve html ads as .dll files. In web applications the only way to positively know the type of content a file will return is to ask the server for the content-type header (normally takes 200-500 milliseconds depending upon connection and server speed)
