Wrox are one of my faves too but equally, I find it hard to have those scary people staring up at me from my desk or down from my bookshelf.

I can also highly recommend books published by Deitel. I work as a trainer and out of all the books I've ever recommended to nooby VB and C# programmers, they usually come out best for a good, all round overview.
