Well, I do and there is a reason - Only ambitious person can do that but since this is a public forum then ambitiousness isn't necessary something that needs to be shown.
I'm less than amibitious, I assure you, but I think it's a decent system. It's gotten me to throw some help out where I can in the past couple of days. I'd gotten away from that recently unfortunately.

The more people who add a link to their signature the quicker the concept of reputations will spread. Likewise I see no harm in asking a member who is clearly happy with the help you have given them to give a little back by adding to your reputation, it doesn't cost them money and I doubt it takes more than 20 seconds.
Everyone starts with 5 points. So if you have 5 then you havn't gotten any aditional points, and not lost any. When you get some you can can click the User CP link, and scrool down to the bottom, and you will see for what thread you got the point, and maybe even a comment.
