Thread: Mouse double click area

    As far as I know...

When you double click something in Windows there is a certain area (e.g 2 square pixels perhaps) that both clicks must happen in for Windows to recognise it a a double click...right?

Is there anyway that I can make this area bigger? My dad works on a ship and he reccons it's really hard to double click if the ship's rolling and pitching about...

I'm not particlarly after a VB solution...ANYTHING will do!! Any ideas?

Depending on the control you are trying to use why not just use the single click event.

if I understood your problem right, I think you have problem to double click on an item in windows, I had that problem with my old man too, so I suggest you click the right butto first and then select what you like from the opening menu
or you can make the double click slower
or you can use a track ball instead of a mouse
    hopes it helps

Yeah, saharon, you know what I'm getting at...and if you're dad also had this problem then you'll know that he won't accept anything less than a perfect solution...right clicking or using a trackball (he tried mine and hated it!) just won't appease him.

I've seen it done...the software for my Wacom graphics tablet allows you to increase the amount of movement windows will allow between each click of a double click (it's bluddy hard to double click with a pen!!)...but I've got no idea how they achieved it!

    Hi Matthew.

There's a type of mouse that has a single click that acts as a double-click. Usually the "double-click" button is located on the lower right side of the mouse, where the right thumb can easily click it. A friend of mine had a mouse like this and it was cool. It shouldn't be hard to find a mouse like this and your dad will thank you for it.

    All the best.

If you've got Windows '95 download Tweak UI from www.Microsoft.com

If you've got Windows '98 + you should already have TweakUI in your Control Panel.
On the Mouse tab of TweakUI you can change the double-click sensitivity (which is what you mean by the double-click area).

Cheers...I never even considered that...I assumed it changed the time between the clicks...cheers!

I agree it's not labelled well - the speed between the two clicks is "Double-Click Speed", which you edit on the normal Control Panel for the mouse.
