Display popup IE window for selection...

I want to be able to select a user.
What I need is to click a link and for another IE window to popup, that lists my users. I want to select a user, and then it return back to my main IE screen and insert teh username into a text field.

Any examples?

I like to use modal dialogs for that sort of thing but you need IE 5.0 or 6.0.
