    It's been a while!

    I haven't been to these boards in some time. I think it's been almost 2 years. Things really have changed! I do see some familiar names though, plenderj and MartinLiss. Is crptcblade still here? Believe it or not I stopped by because I got a birthday email greeting sent to me yesterday.

    OMG! I know it's old news but it's new to me. I just saw nareth's avatar. Parksie? Gone? Wow, it's hard to believe.

    It's been a while for me too. Rest In Peace Parksie

    I saw ice_531's avatar this weekend and a quick glance of 1983-2004 was too young in my mind to be a lifespan, so I chalked it up to typical respect toward such a valued member of these forums. I thought, perhaps the avatar was for a project they had worked on...

    Then I saw crptcblade's signature and could not believe it. Perhaps another casualty of Iraq, I thought. So I found this in a search http://vbforums.com/showthread.php?t...hlight=parksie

    Mike Parks, Parksie, was someone I looked up to and definitely admired.

    I don't know how this could have happened.

    I'm doing a (free) operating system (just a hobby, won't be big and professional like gnu) for 386(486) AT clones. ... and it probably never will support anything other than AT-harddisks, as that's all I have :-(.

    Question. Do you know that the character "?" means I'm asking a question? Question. Do you know that spoken inflection also provides the same cue? So please don't say, "Question" before you ask your question. Believe me I'll know.

    That said, I would have said this first if it had to precede what I'm telling you now. Having said that, what I'm telling you now is the same thing I just said about the annoying phrases "That said" and "Having said that".

    Thanks. Things got hectic in life and in work but have somewhat calmed down.

    @Phenix,

    I read that post after searching the topics. I only knew him through these boards but still considered him a friend.
