Geek Cred
I'd like to announce my investiture into the Grand and Ancient Order of Computer Geeks. I have of course been forced to get some glasses!
My eyesight has been totally devastated by years of sitting 6 inches away from (in chronological order), a 14" TV in low res mode (for 9 years), a 15" CRT (5 years) and various LCD panels.
I now look like a proper geek and have up to now been a mere pretender. I must take an oath.
*places left hand on a leather-bound gilded hardcopy of MSDN, raises right hand*
GACG_OATH.TXT, Version 2.3.3224.15624. Last revised 08 Jan 2005:
"I, Wossname, solemnly swear my allegiance to all things computer orientated, with the exception of the unholy and heretical Apple Mac series, the mere mention of which leaves the taste of blood in my mouth. I hereby devote all my runtime, present and future, to the advancement of code, the upholding of the Ideals of OOP and the protection of the holy Framework (v1.1). I promise on oath to perform these duties with diligence and fortitude, these I will do to my last breath and drop of blood.
Not women nor shine of sun shall stay this geek from his duties. I shalt not be tempted by shallow offers of social interaction nor hindered by a lack of Vitamin E. May I long avoid deodorant.
God save Open Source.
This oath is best viewed in FF (1024x768 or higher)"

Re: Geek Cred
I think you have the wrong vitamin. It is D not E that is generated in your skin while exposed to the sun.
My usual boring signature: Nothing

No.
A true geek knows little about the Sun other than the holy wisdom that it is inherently evil, and in collusion Apple Mac *spit*. Since he obviously spends time studying it he should be tried as a heretic. You have fallen into the trap of the unbeliever.
Club? CLUB??? Vile heretic, get on your knees and say a dozen Hail Torvalds immediately.

If you don't wear glasses then (according to GAOCG regulations) you must carry a scientific calculator around with you at all times OR be able to recite the first 20 elements of the Periodic table and their atomic weights.
