    linux and the internet

I know that you must have a differnt modem for connecting to the internet on the linux platform. What about if you have a wireless card? Can you connect then with out any additional hardware or software? If you can, what distro's are most friendly about this?

You dont strictly need a different modem for Linux.
You just need to make sure that drivers are available for the one you have.

Quite often its more down to the manufacturer rather than the distro.
