Can anyone explain why ...
Take a look at the image attached. It appears to me like some sort of anomaly: left side where user's name and avatar is not equal from post to post.

I've noticed that too. It seems that when there is a long line of code the code window grows and shifts to the left to give it as much room as possible.

That's what I thought as well, but shouldn't left pane be a fixed one?

Well, I think VBCODE should be just put into the same kind of textbox all other stuff are... CODE, QUOTE and so on. But I guess it might be too much of a coding work to do?

Re: Can anyone explain why ...
I can now confirm: that behaviour is definitely caused by VBCODE tags.
Personally, I can leave with that - it's just doesn't look right.

Re: Can anyone explain why ...
Just confirming -
This is because the content in the left column is being forced wider with either VBCODE, images, or other fixed-width content and thus pushing the left column to make room. This helps too keep as much content in the main view. I don't see us changing this.
One resolution is for everyone to get very wide monitors with very wide resolutions

Re: Can anyone explain why ...
Another solution would be to disable images and/or push Ctrl + Minus a few times to decrease font size

Re: Can anyone explain why ...
Images - yes we can do that, but smaller fonts may force you to use a magnifying glass besides regular reading ones that you might already have.
