    Package and Deployment problem

    Hi all,

I made an installation setup in Windows XP Service Pack 2 using VB 6.0. When I am trying to install this setup in system having Service Pack 1, I am getting an error, that the system files are older, and press ok to update those files and restart the machine, even after restarting many times, the error presists. Can any one hellp me.. plzzz

    kota_balaji,

Do yourself a favor and leave PDW (it hasn't been updated since 1998). Go for one of the other updated free installers and third party tools.

My Choice: ********** and Inno Setup

You will be glad you left old PDW!

Everyone (including randem) do yourself a big favor:
open Setup1.vbp (here's a common location - C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\VB98\Wizards\PDWizard\Setup1) and modify that project the way YOU need it ... You all are programmers so do it for yourselves and stop complaining about P&DW !!!

That project is the source for P&DW and MS does distribute it on purpose.

    My best regards to all.

    RhinoBull,

Yes, we all know that. But we may not want to support it. If you like it that is your option. Use it all you like, no one cares if you do or don't.

BTW: When I want a better car... I think I will build it!! hmmm... maybe even that new house....

    Re: Package and Deployment problem

You know, for the argument sake, I'd say that if someone's asking about P&DW and you respond with something like "go to hell ... use Inno ..." makes me feel really bad for that poor guy that asked for a help and instead was simply redirected. People want to use a very particualr piece of software but are having some trouble to learn or make some adjustments and your "Use Inno ..." stuff doesn't help much what-so-ever. You should undestand that as well. Best way is not respond if you have no answer or at least not sure ...
And BTW who do you reffer as "WE" ?

    Cheers and Happy Holidays.

    RhinoBull,

My suggestion and opinions are just that... MINE!!! Since this is a FORUM which is meant to share ideas and opinions... I did just that. No where in my statement was it directed to you or anyone else but the starter of the thread.

You can have your opinion of PDW, but it still will not change mine... But then again I did not ask...

I am afraid you're missing a point so this conversation is going nowhere and therefore I will stop responding now.

    You have a good time.
