The Edit button only appears after you've posted, and only appears for your posts only.

If you weren't the last person to have posted in a thread, where should the "Post Reply" button then be?

So ??? If EDIT isn't there then next to QUOTE ... Those are details but where it is now it's totally rediculous.

    Re: Reply button ...

How about the "New Thread" on the left side, like it is now, and the "Post Reply" button on the right?

    Re: Reply button ...

I thought about that - it is better but I really think those two buttons ("NEW..." and "Reply...") must be separated. Perhaps "New..." on the left and "Reply..." on the right side of a page.

That sounds good, I think I'd like it better like that too .

    Re: Reply button ...

Except, I think that New should be on the right, with REPLY on the left.
I've hitten the wrong one, and had to back up and hit reply, and copy in what I wrote. Old habits die hard...

Sorry, somehow I misinterpreted your post - I thought that you want them both on the far left side but just switch places.

In any case, does anyone have an image of what was there before the big change?

    Re: Reply button ...

That would be ok apart from the left hand side is used for something, I can't remember what it is, I think its if the thread has a rating or something liek that. So swaping them over would be possible but splitting them isn't really unless you say where the other thing would go .

    Re: Reply button ...

I remember what goes on the right side now, its the page numbers. So you'd have to say where they would go in your new layout .

    Re: Reply button ...

I guess the easiest way to change them would be to switch the two but still
keep them on the left side. I like them split like timeshifters attachment, but
    probably too much code changes?

    Re: Reply button ...

Once a few other items are resolved, I'll take a look at moving some of the buttons. I'll probably put positions up to a vote because I doubt any specific location will make everyone happy.
