WinSock ?
Dear Friends
I would like to enter in winsock programming , but i am not clear, what is winsock and how it works? The background to entering in the winsock programming is that , i was using timer control in my programms, while my friend suggest me, use winsock rather than timer. Now i am looking to you if any one can provide me material or lead me towards the fully loaded website regarding winsock.
Thanks

Re: WinSock ?
they are two different controls. the timer is for local events. the winsock control is for communicating events to another device/computer. The other computer can be a local network, or the Internet. If you don't need to send data to another machine, then you don't need the winsock control at all.
I believe that your friend is misinformed about the control.
