The upgrade has occurred and the search features are currently being reindexed. If you notice any issues, let us know here. Thanks for everyone's help in making this a smooth transition so far.

In the next few days we will post some additional information on the new features within the forums.

    Re: Forum Upgrade Feedback

Seems to have gone pretty smooth. Nothing seems to be messed up, but only time will tell for sure. Good work everyone

    1) Right now, it only seems to be cosmetic issues, in that the envelope icons have changed, buttons and hyperlinks seem bigger than before...

    2) Also, the "Acceptable Use Policy" link at the bottom of the page is in Times New Roman. Couldn't you make that the same font as the rest of the links?

    3) The "Post Icons" appear below this textarea when replying or creating a new therad. Now, a lot of us have a habit of finishing the reply and then pressing tab to move to "submit reply" or "preview post". Is there a way to make the Post Icons appear above the textarea, or is this a new default?

    Re: Forum Upgrade Feedback

Can we get the "good old" letter icons back, they're much clearer than the new ones. I'm on other forum which recently upgraded to v3 and I still don't recognise the icons well... I think they went backwards with them.

Of course one solution would be to make custom icons that resemble the old icons, except that they'd look much neater

Please check the invisible mode, it seems it is not working.

I also feel confused with the new icons as well... And I also would like if you could solve the old problem we had with the comments in the VBCode tags when you implement them, some coffee would be nice, and cookies, a gamecube, a new laptop... Oops, sorry... I got carried away with the season's spirit

Seems like even more of the top of the screen is being used. I couldn't see ANY posts using my laptop. Now, even the Reply testbox has to be scrolled to. Also, it seems that the font is bigger. I changed my text size to SMALLER, but it didn't help. Maybe its different on a regular monitor, I don't know. My screen is 1024x768.

Where have the vbcode tags gone?

Also, will the new version have better support for VB Keywords?
I use Microsoft Visual Basic 2005. (Therefore, most code samples I provide will be based around the .NET Framework v2.0, unless otherwise specified)

You can still press tab and then the "cursour" will move to the No Icon radio button, and you can press enter on that one, and you will posts.......I did that a few times when I was new to vB3, and I found out that it actualy worked.

And I have to echo all the posts about the icons for new posts. I must admitt that I am not sure what icon is the right for when I have posted in a thread or not, even if I have used this version for a long time...and they are so BIG too.

Ohhhh and it looks like the indexing isn't finished is it? Because if I search for NoteMe, then I get ZERO,ZIP,NILL,Nothing, and i used to get about 3155 hits. So if it is finished, then it is wrong, if it isn't then I am just posting ZERO,ZIP,NILL,Nothing..

Other cosmethic things. The posts should be outlined with a px thin black line, and the post reply button, should not be giving a huggto the post on the bottom.

Will we be getting one of those really neat reply boxes, which works like a word processror. Allowing you to format your posts just by clicking on the buttons and to see the formatting before you reply?

It would also be nice to have a border around individual posts in a thread. They are just disappearing into cyberspace at the moment. Other than that, it looks good.

In Threaded display mode, when you click in the listbox to nav to a new post, it sends you to the top of that page and you have to scroll down to read it. Just a small annoyance.

I noticed this while using IE 6

The "Number of Posts to Show Per Page" option in the User CP has a maximum of 50 - in the 'old days' it was 100.

Is it possible to increases the new limit?

    Re: Forum Upgrade Feedback

As with another forum running on vbbulletin, the response after sending a post doesn't work (just goes to a page doesn't exist).

The other forum that used this had problems on the main pages linking to the individual threads (they were displayed on the main page but the linking was incorrect... Haven't checked that yet

    Other than that, looks good

    Vince

    Edit:
Checked that main page link and its wrong. So feed that back to vbBulletin... its their fault (the other forums run v3.0.1 and they have this problem too)
    Edit 2:
Editting post is same as making post, getting an error page back after its posted

Personally, I don't care much who's goint to scream and who's not.
New look does not impress me at all - old was more elegant and simpler.
Besides, what's the story with VBCODE tags ??? They don't seemed to work anymore. Also, I absolutely hate those large icons and links ... why can't they be of a normal size ???

Mendhak, what I meant is that even if you are in invisible mode if they go into your details they are able to know where you are (in which thread, forum, etc.)

At least I could see that... It seems they designed it for stalkers like NoteMe...

    Brad!
You asked for it! <ignore target="this">The biggest thing for me is the search being "Broken." The previous version had the capability to allow me to search for posts since my last visit. I used it all the time as a quick way to see what's up since my last visit, so that I didn't have to waste my time clicking into a forum, browse the threads, back out to the main, repeat.
Now, it just takes me to the search screen, I select "posts since last visit" - and when I hit submit, it tells me I *have* to enter a user's name to search for?
Here's the link I used to use; http://vbforums.com/search.php?s=&action=getnew Man it was so handy.
    </ignore>
Ignore that.... I found it under the "Quick Links" menu..... I'm OK now..... *takes another chill pill followed by a coffee chaser.*

Oh no!!! What happened to my "Fanatic Member" Title?

I had been working hard to get to the next Member Title...
(I noticed that when I saw techgnome had his "Registered User" Title... And I thought "techgnome Registered User? Come on!")

Just because of that we deserve custom titles and free therapy sessions for the following 10 years or so.

One more thing... Is there a way to change or at least make bigger the links to the Forums? It is hard for me to get used to this new way of browsing... Could you at least change the order of the Forum Browsing bar and the User CP, FAQ, Members List ... Bar?

Finally, would you please add the button we had in the threads that allowed us to create a new one? (And now that we are at it, could the alignment of "Post Reply" change to the right?)

    Thanks
