He was the chairman of IBM, and I thought he said 7 . . .
We have made no progress at all: 40,000 years ago when men where still painting cartoons in caves in Lascaux they worked 2o hours a week to keep warm and fed, and had the rest of the time to do as they pleased: Most adults in the UK do 40+
Students aside, who here does a 20 hour week?
Money, and the things it can buy are an illusion. Efficiency through computing is also an illusion.
Working, per se, is the illusion that we must earn money: to buy houses, cars, and of course, beer. We need an expensive house because it's close to where we work. We need a car to drive ourselves to work, and we need beer to forget about work. Round and round in circles we go: we need work to buy the things that support our work . . .
Without workers (with their greed, and work illusion (aka work ethic)) governments would go bust so they perpetuate the workers myth - and provide negative incentives in order to enforce that myth upon every citizen - which keeps the cash rollin' on through.
I call that slavery.

Actually it seems Gates never said that or was misquoted. No one has ever been able to find anything as to where this quote came from.

Maybe it was Gill Bates that said it then

I realize that most of the computer in the picture has been greatly improved over what they were anticipating, but I can't figure out what the double wheel is for. I use the larger wheel for turning the hard drive, but I can't understand the smaller wheel. Was that for some kind of anticipated low power mode?

So...does that mean that you guys....uh... DON't have a big wheel like that on your systems? The salesman told me that everyone had them, charged me extra for the extra big wheel. Said it would give me more leverage. You need it cause the speed of the computers these days causes the cursor to increase in weight due to relativistic effects....right?
