    Question Windows Server 2003 Question

    Here's the skinny.

I'm running an Windows Server 2003 Standard server behind a Smoothwall firewall box. On the 2003 box, I've set up Web interface for Remote Desktop which takes the form of a website running under IIS on port 80.

I've set up a port forwarding rule on the Smoothie to forward port 80 traffic to the box, which works as far as I can tell as no intrusions are detected when I try to access the external address. The problem is, although I can access the website from inside the network, if I try to access from outside (ie my externally visible address) I can't see it.

There is no firewall nor TCP/IP filtering software running on the 2003 box, it's largely a default install. Does anyone have ANY idea why this problem should be occuring?

I'm about 95% sure the problem is not with the Smoothwall, as several other port forwarding rules work fine, but none to the 2003 box as yet. Any help very much appreciated!!!!

    Cheers,

    Jon

Yes it is with the firewall, you still need port 3389 open for remote desktop to work, whether it's via the web based interface or the client.

You could also try changing the listening port for RDP, but it's better and easier to just open up 3389.
I use Microsoft Visual Basic 2005. (Therefore, most code samples I provide will be based around the .NET Framework v2.0, unless otherwise specified)
