Internet Explorer: TSL 1.0, Disabled Automatically?
I have been messing around with my network here and havent really had time to try to figure out why things werent working but it finally had a few spare minutes to figure out why some websites and (internet based) software wouldnt work.
Hotmail. Gmail Notifier, and Msn Messenger just stopped working, i cant figure out excally when.
I finnaly figured out that TSL was disabled in internet explorer. First of all im pretty pissed that a setting changed by itself (well , im assuming another app or a windows update changed it). And Second, that a single setting like that would affect all those applications.
I hate m$... id wish they keept the damned browser separate from Windows.
Anyone know why this got changed?

Hey, hey calm down, jees it's not that bad. It is most probably an accident caused by someone or some program, nothing to start getting upset over.
If it doesn't do it again, don't worry about it.
I use Microsoft Visual Basic 2005. (Therefore, most code samples I provide will be based around the .NET Framework v2.0, unless otherwise specified)

I have SSL, but not TLS enabled on my browser. Anything wrong with it? I can get web-based email.

I wasnt that mad over it... i almost reinstalled winxp over it but its time for its bi-monthly cleansing.
Windows installs seem to have a two month shelf date.
Now that this is fixed... i'll wait till chirstmas break when i have some time on my hands and i will reinstall all the systems on my network (8).
Meh... computers are taking up too much of my time, helping friends, and friends' friends - im starting to get annoyed...
It just gets to the point when its too annoying...
I took a Software Applications course that is just leaning word, frontpage, excel, photoshop for a easy credit... I end helping my teacher and the other students in my class. If im not careful i'll probably end up designing the schools website if im done the project too early.
its just plain annoying!
Ignorance is bliss.
I liked it better when everyone thought i was a completely incompetent idiot.
meh.... im done ranting...

It's not enabled on mine, please don't blame Microsoft for things like this, no wonder they get so much bad press, most of the time it isn't even their fault .
And I strongly disagree with a two month shelf date for Windows, I've been running for a whole year, same installation, perfectly fine. Makes me wonder, all the lock ups people have, whether it's the actual user, not the OS responsible, i.e. installing buggy software that crashes the OS, whose fault is it? Certainly not Microsoft's.

meh... i'll check a few other computers when i get up in the afternoon...
Microsoft does make a lot of stupid mistakes....
I cant complain too much because i keep using their software... mostly because i dont have a choice but i have noticed its getting better...
Since i have upgraded to Windows Xp i have had few major problems but I still try to reinstall my personal machines bi-monthly and all others when a new sp comes out. This is because of two reasons; first a clean slipstreamed install always seems to work better and second because of the way Microsoft designed the registry and other crucial parts of windows ... applications can cause too much damage.
An application, even a buggy one, should not have the ability to make the entire operating system unstable.
Like any developer... they should assume the user is the stupidest (i know its not a word) being on the planet.
The mess a person with limited computer knowldge can do on a windows machine, even with a limited user account is quite great.
I hope Longhorn addresses most of these problems...

I'd think that it will only get worse. I have never re-installed XP, and it, along with W2K AS, W2K WS, XP Pro have never crashed. The biggest challenge that I had was with SP2 and an old sound card, but luckily they were very helpful when it came to solving the problem. I almost didn't want to believe that it wasn't their fault, but, I couldn't prove that is was anyways.
I almost cursed them when I forgot the Admin account on one machine, but, because I wasn't totally locked out, I resolved that.
If you don't have TLS, then you should have SSL. They both do basically the same thing.
