UNRESOLVED - ActiveX Control Problem.
Hey there people
Im trying to get my activeX (ocx) to work for my chat programe, ive tryed compiling it so on signed it and packaged it as well. But when users go to download the softwear it gives this error;
-------------------
This page provides potentially unsafe information to an ActiveX control. Your current security settings prohibit running controls in this manner. As a result, this page may not display correctly.
-------------------
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

That is normal. IE warns users of potential security risks.

Yea i understand that part and know that it warns users when they try to download the softwear, however it shouldnt be cause i got a certificte from thawte and it should all be safe. I did have it working for a few days cause i had got a guy that built me the programe to fix it however he had and never sent me the update after i had a fall out with him. So im not sure if it had to do with the wat i packaged it or complied it or even then way i signed it, in anycase if there is anyone out there intrested in helping me out i am willing to pay for you time.
Please contact me at mt email address or poat a reley to this posting.
Thanks!

Do all user's get the same problem? Or does this problem only exist on the development PC.
Strangely enough, on my PC that was serving a control, to view the control one had to add the site as a trusted site, however if the control is signed, it should ask the user if they wish to install.
Did you build the control and make it safe for scripting?
Another thing you might want to do is rebuild the control from scratch, I've had corrupt visuakl basic projects that cause the control to not work or give problems. Just create a new project and copy all the source code over again...

It doesn't have to be that way. Please read this instructional guide:

Hi,
Visit http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;182598 for the solution.
Basically the ocx needs to be marked safe for scripting and safe for initialization.
If this solves it, please help on my problem with ActiveX

How is that different than setting those parameters via the P&D wizard?

40% of the users have SP2. it is M$'s answer to security, so to work with it, you have to play by their rules.
