    Question Replacing a Parallet Port on Laptop?

    My friend is wondering if her HP ZE42000 needs a parallel port replacement because her printer prints Chinese characters and also when connecting her "court reporting" software "key" to that port, the software says that the key is not properly installed.

    What do you think I should do for her?

    sounds like there is a driver issue. I'd do a reset on the printer, as well as re-install the driver (look for an update)
    Does it work with any other printer?

    Did it ever work with the dongle?

    Try using the PrinterPort without the dongle. If it that doesn't work, then you could buy a USB--> parallel port converter, costs about $25
