Resolved Sharing folders on Win2003 server(Resolved)

How on earth do you share folders in server 2003. I have set network privaleges for the folder to network, network accounts, administrators, users, everyone. It wont let any pc view the folder contents saying they need permissions please contact admin

Is there something else I need?

    Thanks

    P.s I HATE WIN 2003 Server

You know that "Mange Your Server" Window that pops up when you log in?

(If you clicked dont display this at logon:
Control Panel --> Administrative Tools --> Manage Your Server)

If you have not already added the file server role to your server...
(There would be a "File Server" section below "Managing Your Server Roles")

Click "Add Role" then Next then wait... then double click on the File Server Role In the List.... wait... your done adding the role

If there was (or now is) a "File Server" Section then click Add Shared Folders and it will take you thru a wizard.

btw: you can now share files like in W2K
    Tips:
    • Google is your friend! Search before posting!
    • Name your thread appropriately... "I Need Help" doesn't cut it!
    • Always post your code!!!! We can't read your mind!!! (well, at least most of us!)
    • Allways Include the Name and Line of the Exception (if one is occuring!)
    • If it is relevant state the version of Visual Studio/.Net Framwork you are using (2002/2003/2005)

it must have been turned on by default in W2K. I don't remember enabling it. I just created user accounts for my other machines, and then shared folders on the server. Don't know about W2003

Make sure that their NTFS permissions are set to allow the selected behaviour. Remember, Deny or non-existant permissions take priority over allow.
I use Microsoft Visual Basic 2005. (Therefore, most code samples I provide will be based around the .NET Framework v2.0, unless otherwise specified)

YAY it works thanks everyone ABX's idea worked

Seems strange that you have to use the wizard instead of right clicking and sharing

DGLienna I recommend you never use Win2003 it is very difficult to setup and all permissions are a nightmare

Maybe you need a little more experience with it. I use it all the time and I wouldn't part with it for anything.
